Why straight designs don't fit tapered tumblers

A tapered tumbler is wider at the top than at the bottom. Flattened out, its surface isn't a rectangle. It's a curved slice of a ring. Wrap a rectangular design around it and the top won't reach around the rim, the bottom overlaps, and the design tilts at the seam.

TaperWrap bends your design into that curved shape so every row wraps exactly once around the cup, from the wide rim down to the narrow base. Print it, cut along the line, and it sits flat with a clean seam.

How to measure your tumbler

Where to measure a tapered tumbler 1. Top circumference 2. Bottom circumference 3. Height along side
  1. Top circumference: wrap a soft tape measure around the cup just below the lid line, where you want the print to start.
  2. Bottom circumference: wrap it around where the print should end, just above the base.
  3. Height: measure between those two lines, along the side of the cup, with the tape lying flat against it.

Only have diameters? Switch to Across and enter them instead. For a snug seam, keep a small overlap (about ¼ in / 6 mm) under Print options.

FAQ

Is my design uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything happens in your browser. Your artwork never leaves your computer, so it works on private and licensed designs.

What size should my straight design be?

Use the straight wrap you would normally print, at any size. TaperWrap stretches it to go all the way around at every height, so the left and right edges meet at the seam. Designs made for a straight tumbler of about the same size look most natural.

How do I print at the right size?

Download the PDF for your paper and print at Actual size / 100%, not "Fit to page". The PNG is tagged at your chosen DPI, so Silhouette Studio, Cricut Design Space, Photoshop and most print software open it at the correct physical size.

My wrap is bigger than my paper. Can I print it on Letter or A4?

Yes. Pick Letter or A4 next to Download PDF and TaperWrap splits the wrap into pieces along the cup's own lines, one piece per page. Each piece has its own cut line and a small overlap, and orange marks show where the next piece's edge goes. Print every page at 100%, cut the pieces out, and wrap them around the cup, tucking each piece under the next. The paper menu shows how many pieces each size needs.

Does it work with Silhouette, Cricut and Canva?

Yes. It exports standard PNG and PDF files you can place in any of them. You don't need Silhouette's Designer Edition or Business Edition warp tools.

Can I fit two wraps on one sheet?

Yes, when the paper is big enough. Pick your paper next to Download PDF and a per sheet menu appears whenever more than one copy fits, for example two 20 oz skinny wraps on 11 × 17, or two tapered 20 oz wraps on 13 × 19. Curved wraps are nested so they use as little paper as possible, and each copy keeps its own cut line.

Can I warp an SVG for vinyl, HTV or laser engraving?

Yes. Switch to Cut file (vinyl / laser) at the top of the tool and upload an SVG. Place it as a decal (choose its width and how far from the top) or stretch it over the full wrap. TaperWrap bends every shape to the cup's taper and exports a cut-ready SVG in inches for Cricut Design Space and Silhouette Studio, or a DXF in millimetres for laser software. Convert text to outlines before you export your SVG.

What about 40 oz tumblers with a handle?

Those are usually printed in two pieces: a straight top section and a tapered bottom section, with a plain band in between. Pick the 40 oz preset (or click Add a section), then measure each printed part of your cup (top and bottom circumference and height) and the height of the unprinted band between them. TaperWrap splits your design across the pieces so it lines up over the band, warps each piece to its own shape and puts them on one sheet with cut lines. Cut small notches for the handle brackets after printing.
